1) Chicago Gospel Festival

We all know that Chicago is known for the Blues music, but gospel music has started from Chicago as well. This free 3-day Chicago festival is full of fun. Festival features music on stages where close to 50 performances take places.

2) Printers Row Lit Fest

The Printers Row Lit Fest is a free Chicago festival, held on five city blocks, features over 200 new and used booksellers and publishers shop. These book shops offer a wide range of new and used book titles. Admission to Printers Row Lit Fest is free but reservation is required by considering the limited seats. Festival also offers kids activities such as story time, singing, performances as well as craft activities.

3) Chicago Blues Festival

The Chicago Blues Festival is world famous adn the largest blues festival.It is also the largest Chicago’s Music Festivals. Chicago Blues Festival is scheduled for three days where more than half a million blues fans get together. Over 5 stages, great Chicago Blues music performances are held that proves the Chicago city as the capital of the Blues. The festival is held during second week of June in Grant park. Admission to the Chicago Blues Festival is free. You can not bring Alcoholic Beverages, BBQ Grills, Weapons, Pop-up tents, Umbrellas, Flag poles and pets except service animals.

4) Ravinia Festival

Ravinia festival in Chicago is one of the best festivals to enjoy greatest music in the world. Since 1904, every year during summer seasons thousands of visitors as well as locals get together with their friends and family to Ravinia festival. Festival helds over 150 events starting from June through September months.The Ravinia Experience is best way to enjoy lawn picnic and music in candlelight.

5) Puerto Rican Fest

Puerto Rican Fest is held in Humboldt Park for 5 days. Humboldt Park is These 5 days festival is full of music, good food, beverages, games and many more things. Festival features a parade that starts from Wacker Drive and ends in west side of Humboldt Park.

6) Old Town Art Fair

Old Town Art fair occur during second weekend of June. Old town Art Fair features hundreds of paintings, jewelry designs, sculptures and activities. During the fair you can take advantage of art auction for your personal need. Also, Fair has been selected one of the top 10 art fairs in the United States of America by American Style Magazine.

7) Wells Street Art Festival

Wells Street Art Festival is also held in Old Town on Wells Street during second week of June – same day as Old Town Art Fair. You can take advantage of paintings, sculptures, glass work, wood work and many similar art related items. Also, at festival enjoy good food, music and carnival rides.

8) Grant Park Music Festival

Grant Park Music Festival is held during June through August at Pritzker Music Pavilion. This Chicago music festival is free for your entertainment. The show features top musicians including international performers.  I would say one of the best way to plan a picnic in downtown Chicago during summer season.

9) Taste of Chicago

Taste of Chicago is one of the largest food festivals in United States of America. Every year this food festival is held for 10 days at Grant Park where thousands of Chicago locals and travelers get together to enjoy the delights. Bring your big appetite to Taste of Chicago as you will need it to enjoy those yummy pizza, hot dogs, ribs and what not. Usually, festival is full of people but you can avoid the crowd during weekdays.  Taste of Chicago is all about great food, great drinks and great fun. Admission to the festival is free but you need to purchase tickets to get the food and beverages.

10) Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade

LGBT Pride in Chicago is held on Halsted street on last Sunday in June month. Hundreds of Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual crowd get together for the parade. Overall gay parade in Chicago is full of color and performances by gay and lesbian communities.
