Preflight Airport Parking – Smart Alternative to Airport Parking

Preflight Airport Parking
Earlier in January 2014, when I went to Cancun, I had a bad experience with airport parking facility located in Schiller Park. Worst experience ever, I would give them benefit of doubt and blame the harsh winter. Shuttle bus was not on time, one of the person in waiting area had lost his car from the parking, people were panic as shuttle buses were not running properly and issue list go on… so definitely to be honest, I didn’t go for the same airport parking facility.

For my Jamaica trip, I was leaning towards catching a cab instead of airport parking service. But, few days before my Jamaica trip, I heard good words about the new facility called Preflight Airport Parking at Chicago O’hare located in Schiller Park. I was hesitant but after doing some research I decided to reserve a parking spot with Preflight Airport Parking and take a last chance.

Preflight Airport Parking Chicago O’Hare International facility is next to Four Seasons hotel in Schiller Park off Irving Park rd. Parking building is brand new and you cannot miss the sign if you are driving on I-294. I am glad I parked my car at Preflight Airport Parking, excellent hassle free service!

Facts I Like about Preflight…

  • Gives you options for parking: Covered parking and Uncovered parking. Covered parking spots cost you more compared to open.
  • Once you reserve the parking spot you are assured to have a spot available for you.
  • If you see Full sign at the entrance that means facility is full. But make sure to show your reservation to the facility worker and they let you enter the building.
  • Excellent shuttle bus service running to airport every 5 to 10 minutes
  • Frequent flyers can enroll into their Frequent Parker Card to get more benefits.
  • Express Pass Program can help you get in and get out quickely through Express Lane using provided ExpressPass Transponder or membership card.
  • Multiple locations in different cities. So far 9 locations including Chicago.

How much it Cost?

As facility is new, they have special rates almost 50% off on regular price. I paid $6 for covered parking per day. It cost me $30 for 5 days parking. If for some reason your parking period is extended for longer time compared to the time you seleced during reservation then you will be charged more for those extra hours.

Roof Top – $5 per day, which varies at different locations.
Economy Covered (2nd & 3rd floor) – $6 per day – which varies at different locations.
Premium Covered with wider parking spot (1st floor) – $7 per day – which varies at different locations.

Overall, cost of parking varies from location to location. Based on my understanding be ready to pay somewhere between $5 to $12 per day.

Any Bad Side:

Parking cost must be same at all locations. At this moment, parking cost is different at all parking locations in USA.

How to Park and Fly?

I was amazed with the service and staff. Make sure to carry printed copy or smart phone that can generate reservation barcode. I had to scan the barcode provided with reservation at the entrance. The moment I entered the building I was guided by the staff to meet another facility staff on 3rd floor. Person on 3rd floor guided to park at the available parking spot and provided direction to the elevator for shuttle bus. Very courteous staff.

Shuttle bus driver, David, was very nice to all guests. Helped everyrone with luggage and provided proper instructions how to get ride back to facility when we return.

Still, make sure to keep the reservation barcode proof for the return.

Preflight Airport Parking Shuttle Bus

How to catch return Shuttle?

As in general, if you are returning to domestic terminals 1, 2, 3 then traveler needs to walk across street behind the Hilton. Make sure to use the underground climate controlled route by following Bus/Shuttle center signs.

International Terminal 5 travelers need to call shuttle service at 847-678-9234 for pick up once immigration and custom is cleared. Bus pick up is at door 5E, exit door right in front of McDonald’s.

Shuttle bus will drop you at the elevator within the parking building. Make sure to scan your barcode at the paying station to receive the payment ticket. Even if you have paid online, make sure to take payment confirmation ticket at the payment kiosk by scanning reservation barcode.

Go to your car and follow exit sign. I was asked to scan payment confirmation ticket at two places before exiting the building. It is very well secured!

I would say overall, you can travel worry free ! For a good trip you need a good start, and you can have that without any doubt at Preflight Airport Parking. That’s my recent personal experience!
