Crisp Review – Chicken Wings in Lakeview

Crisp Korean Chicken Wings in Lakeview
Crisp is a tiny little Korean chicken wings joint on north Broadway Ave in Lakeview. This little place is famous for Chicken Wings and Korean Buddha Bowl. Yes, It is not a formal dining destination but more kind of takeout place. If you are in the neighborhood then I insist you to try Crisp for lunch or dinner.

Order Menu at Crisp in Lakeview Chicago
Crisp doesn’t have too many tables for seating but this restaurant is always busy with takeout orders of residents and workers in the neighborhood. I noticed there were more carryout orders compared to in-dining guests. At Crisp, menu is mainly focused on fried chicken, chicken wings, sandwiches and bowls. Among everything, chicken wings and Buddha Bowls are customer favorite at Crisp.

Chicken Wings – “The Bird is The Word”

Without any doubt go for Chicken Wings – You can choose any two different kinds of sauces from the list for your chicken wings order. During my last visit, I ordered half Chicken wings with Seoul Sassy and Crisp BBQ sauces, Yummy! Chicken wings came with right amount of sweet-n-spicy sauces! Perfect tender chicken wings, way perfect than my expectation.

Buddha Bowls Display at Crisp in Lakeview Chicago

Buddha Bowls

Crisp’s menu has different kinds of Buddha Bowls – Baby Buddha Bowl, Bad Boy Buddha Bowl, Big Boy Buddha Bowl. Buddha bowls comes with veggies, rice and fried egg with the choice of additional marinated chicken, beef or tofu for extra charge.

Baby Buddha bowl came with 4 veggies – carrots, zucchini, spinach, bean sprouts, on rice and fried egg on top in a bowl. Do not forget to add Korean spicy Buddha Sauce (Gochujang) and Sriracha Hot Sauce! If you are looking for mild sauce then ask for Seoul Sassy at the time of ordering your Buddha Bowl.

Bad Boy Buddha bowl comes with vegetables of Baby bowl plus 4 more veggies. If you do not like to limit veggies then go for Big Boy Buddha bowl, which comes with 12 veggies. I think that’s way more than what one would want to eat veggies in lunch or dinner!

Baby Buddha Bowl from Crisp in Lakeview Chicago

Was it really a Baby Buddha Bowl?

Don’t get carried away with name – Baby Buddha Bowl. Yup, it is not kid’s meal 🙂 Baby Buddha portion is more than you need for lunch! I must say, order cautiously as food portions are big! I ordered half Chicken wings and Baby Buddha Bowl – but amount of food we got was enough for 3 people.

Seating area is small but cozy! Crisp restaurant is clean and tidy but paper napkins on the table! Crisp should provide better paper napkins compared to brown paper towel rolls on the table. Yuk….It was kind of gross and unpleasant to see sauce on the paper towel from the last use.

Now let’s forget about paper napkin and come to the conclusion! Based on my recent visit to Crisp, I would say it is definitely not a formal dining place, but if you are in Lakeview, then at least try Crips once for Chicken wings and Buddha bowls.

Crisp is located at 2940 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60657. It’s on N Broadway Ave between Oakdale Ave & Wellington Ave. Crisp is open everyday from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm
