Things to Do in Chicago in July 2018

Summer months in Chicago are full of food festivals and music festivals, especially July is full of fun. Today I have come up with top 10 things to do in Chicago in July 2018. Plan your July weekends with one of these summer festivals to enjoy the Chicago fullest including 4th of July fireworks display at Navy Pier. 4th of July Fireworks at Navy Pier

When: July 4, 2018 9:30 pm
Where: Navy Pier
Plan a visit to downtown Chicago on 4th of July. Spend entire day in the downtown with family and head to Navy Pier early to get entry, because for safety purpose Navy Pier closes doors once it has reached maximum capacity. 4th of July firework is one of the best things to do in Chicago during July. Independence Day Fireworks Celebration at Navy Pier is presented by Miller Lite.

West Fest Chicago in July

When: July 6 5pm -10pm, July 7th & 8th 12pm – 10pm
Where: West Town – 1800W – 2000W Chicago Ave. Chicago IL 60622

West Fest is an annual street festival organized and managed by West Town Chamber of Commerce, featuring local offerings. You can plan to attend West Fest one of these days to enjoy the local flavors and live entertainment. The event reflects the eclectic and hip West Town community, and is also known for cutting edge live music.

July month is all about music and food. Taste of Chicago is one of the premier outdoor food festival in Chicago offering variety of food and flavors. Taste of Chicago is one of the best things to do in Chicago during summer season with family. You may like my post on taste of Chicago 2017. Admission to the taste of Chicago festival is free but in my opinion, food prices should be reasonable. Last time I visited it was kind of high for the portion.

Windy City Smokeout Festival in July

When: Friday, July 13 through Sunday, July 15
Where: 560 W Grand Ave., Chicago, IL 60654

Windy City Smokeout is one of the popular annual food festival in Chicago for BBQ lovers! Plan a day visiting Windy City Smokeout festival to enjoy beer, BBQ and country tunes. Windy City Smokeout festival features finger-lickin BBQ, best beers from local and national breweries and award wining country music. Admission to Windy City Smokeout is not free. You can purchase tickets at the festival or online here!

Roscoe Village Burger Fest

When: July 14-15
Where: 2000 W Belmont Ave, Chicago

Over dozen local restaurants will be firing up the grills to serve you burgers in Roscoe Village. Roscoe village Burger fest will be celebrating their 12th anniversary this year. Festival will feature two stages of non-stop music, artists and plenty of activities for kids in Kid’s Zone.

Taste of River North

When: Friday, July 20th: 5PM-10PM • Saturday, July 21st: 12PM-10PM • Sunday, July 22nd: 11AM-8PM
Where: Kingsbury and Erie

Taste of River North is also one of the neighborhood food festival in Chicago. The Taste of River North features variety of food offerings, drinks and live entertainment.

Lincoln Park Zoo Wine Tasting

When: July 27
Where: Lincoln park Zoo

Get ready to enjoy different kinds of wine at Lincoln Park Zoo’s annual summer wine fest between 6pm to 9pm. This event is only for 21 years or older. Any guest under 21 years will not be permitted into Summer Wine Fest at Lincoln park Zoo. General Admission: $49 (10% off for Lincoln Park Zoo members)

Wicker Park Fest

When: July 27 5 pm to 10 pm, July 28, 29 – 12pm to 10 pm
Where: Wicker Park – Damen & Milwaukee/North Ave Chicago, IL 60647

Wicker Park fest is one of the most popular summer festivals in Chicagoland. This festival reflects neighborhood’s vibrant nightlife, dining options and hip environment. Over 50 bands will be performing on four different stages. Wicker Park fest is the place to enjoy great local food, drinks and live entertainment. Overall, Wicker Park is known for vibrant life and dining options, Big Star, Antique Taco and Parlor Pizza are my favorites in Wicker Park.

Taste of Lincoln Avenue Chicago

When: July 28th & 29th
Where: Lincoln / Fullerton

One of the most popular and largest summer festivals in Chicagoland. The Taste of Lincoln Avenue has been happening over six city blocks since last 35 years. The event features more than 250 vendors and more than 30 music acts on four stages. Every music genre is represented: from blues and country to rock and folk.

Chicago Margarita Festival in July at Navy Pier

When: July 28th & 29th 2018
Where: Navy Pier, CHICAGO, IL

Plan one day at Navy Pier to enjoy Chicago Margarita Festival. This festival features margarita tasting, food trucks and live original music. Overall, you can drink, eat and dance at Navy Pier! Hanging out at Navy Pier by Lake Michigan waterfront is never a dull moment, especially with music and margaritas! You can buy tickets online here!

I also recommend you to enjoy Lake Michigan by taking one of those cruises including Sailing Sunday Funday Brunch cruise or Chicago Lunch Cruise from Navy Pier.
